Samsung may soon introduce the entry-level Galaxy Ace NXT to take on the budget smartphone rivals, which have shook the market in recent times.
Speculated to be priced at Rs 7,399 by a tweet by Mumbai-based Mahesh Telecom, the NXT would be in direct competition with the Motorola Moto E and the Asus Zenfone 4, which was recently launched in India. However, a close look at the specs show that Samsung may have got the pricing and specs wrong with its latest offering.
It must be noted that there hasn’t been an official launch for the phone, which is not surprising given that Samsung usually does not splash out a big event for budget phones.
According to the details revealed by the tweet, the Galaxy Ace NXT sports a 4-inch display, which is smaller than the Moto E, but in line with the new Zenfone 4. It sports a low-powered 1.2GHz single core processor, which might not be the best option given the plethora of dual-core phones in the market. Other specs mentioned are a 3MP rear camera and a 1500 mAh battery.
While it’s decent enough for a first-time smartphone buyer, it shrivels in comparison with the Moto E that offers a faster dual-core processor and a larger 4.3-inch display. The Moto E’s 1980 mAh battery might also last longer than that of the Galaxy Ace NXT. The only thing that could work in Samsung’s favour is that the phone will be more widely available than the Moto E, which currently can only be purchased through Flipkart.
The recently launched Asus Zenfone 4 also wins hands-down in the spec battle with a 1.2GHz dual-core processor and 5-megapixel main camera. Priced at just Rs 5,999, the Zenfone 4 is also cheaper than the Galaxy Ace NXT. With tough competitors like Asus and Motorola, Samsung might have to lower down the Galaxy Ace NXT’s price to make it a viable choice for Indian consumers.
The Galaxy Ace NXT bears the model number SM-G313H and, according to GSM Arena , is already available in some retail outlets in Mumbai.
