eBook service, Qbend comes to India

Popular U.S-based publishing company, Qbend has now come to India with plans of launching their own eBook service in the country. Interestingly, those with plans to publish their books, can do so here with Qbend by paying a nominal fee; a service by the company making its foray into the country, confirms a report in IBNLive. Users can also access and buy eBooks from the Qbend store, by several Indian and International authors.

Content purchased off the Qbend store can be read on a host of devices, like eReaders, tablets and smartphones; and are compatible with both iOS and Android-based devices. Quoting the Qbend’s Chief Operating Officer, Kaushik Sampath, the report stated, “The digital market space in India is on a high growth trajectory with improving computer literacy. With the advent of a variety of tablets, smartphones, and laptops, India is poised to emerge as a big market for eBooks, and the time to start is now.”

eBook store, Qbend comes to India

eBook service, Qbend comes to India

Currently, the site offers both Books and Periodicals; with more than 300,000 books available, across categories like Art, Architecture, Business, Drama, Education, among others. As explained on the site’s FAQ section, Android users can read the titles they’ve purchased from the Qbend store by installing the Aldiko Reader Application from the Android Market, on their device. The site currently supports PDF, ePub and flash formats, and has revealed that “There would be perpetual increase in the number of supported formats.”
