EA has announced a new feature for its digital distribution service Origin. The service, called the Origin Great Game Guarantee, essentially lets people get refunds if they find any game they purchased on Origin to be unsatisfactory. Bear in mind, however, that this only applies to games published by EA. Other publishers' and developers' games aren't eligible for the refund.

Reasons to demand a refund could be anything, be it an unsatisfactory story, boring gameplay or even technical issues. "If something doesn't work out — you aren't riveted by the storyline, or sucked in by the action, or even just if the game doesn't play well with your video card — we've got your back," EA promises.

The discount coupon has no doubt caused a headache for EA

According to the official Origin website, anyone who buys an EA-published PC or Mac game on Origin can return it for a full refund. Of course, this comes with some restrictions. The refund has to be applied for either within 24 hours after the first launch of the game, within seven days from when it was purchased or within the first seven days after the game's release date if it was pre-ordered over Origin. When the refund request is approved, users will be refunded in seven to ten days.

The Origin Great Game Guarantee was undoubtedly introduced because of the major controversy surrounding SimCity and its always-online requirements. Many gamers demanded a refund for the game and customer care executives refused these demands, stating that the company's policy "in general" was to decline refunds for any game or DLC purchased digitally through Origin.
