E3 2012: Sony press conference highlights

Here's what went down at Sony's E3 press conference.

The first day of E3 2012 ended with Sony’s press conference and here are some of the highlights of that rather mellow conference.

Quantic Dream, the makers of Heavy Rain introduced their brand new title called Beyond: Two Souls a supernatural thriller starring Juno’s Ellen Page. We’re not too sure how this game will play out but it seems like Heavy Rain with more telekinesis (or is it ghosts?) and dead people.

Sony didn’t mention a price cut for the Vita but it did confirm two big games for their handheld platform, Call of Duty Black Ops: Declassified and Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation. Declassified is still shrouded in mystery but Liberation is not just a port of Assassin’s Creed III; it is in fact a new game made exclusively for the Vita.

Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us finally gets demoed to the public and it looks good. Real good. Gameplay is nothing like Uncharted by the way. It’s a more serious game with a firm emphasis on survival.

Of course no Sony conference is complete without Kratos and God of War: Ascension made its customary appearance as well. As much as I like the franchise, I have to admit, it does look kind of stale because you’re still doing the same stuff you did in the first game. Here’s hoping the multiplayer adds a bit of variety to the mix.

Sony’s PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royal also gets a new gameplay trailer that introduces a bunch of new characters to the mix like Nathan Drake, Sly Raccoon, the Big Daddy from BioShock etc. It’s nice if that’s your kind of game.
