E-Book Sales Doubled in 2010 - 2011

According to Publishers.org (The Association of American Publishers), the sales of e-books more than doubled over the last year. The sales of e-books in January 2010 grew from $32.4 million to $69.9 million in January 2011. Audiobooks also sold better than last year but not at the same rate as the e-Book formats. Audiobooks grew by an approximate 8 per cent over last year. The AAP has been monitoring the grow of the e-Book market over the last nine years and has noticed a major increase in sales every year. Traditional book sales on the other hand saw a small drop of 1.9 per cent over the last year.

India, too, is noticing a trend in that direction with new manufacturers coming out with many new e-book readers, all being sold at somewhat affordable prices.
