Recently I got my hands on a VAIO E14A laptop – a machine meant for a real working experience! This new model belongs to the ‘Accent Series’ collection, which adds different colour accents around the notebook, bezel, keys, etc.
Once you open the laptop, the first thing you take note of is its sharp display – it also features an onboard ambient light sensor that automatically adjusts brightness levels in sync with ambient light. It also has a comfy, spacious chiclet-style, backlit keyboard, that’s ideal for long hours of typing tirelessly – a perfect complement to the soft finish of the Sony SVE14A15FNB plastics.
This stylishly-designed notebook is a fully-featured computing machine meant for long hours. There are definitely some hardware plus points - a DVD burner, two USB 2.0 ports along with a microphone, two USB 3.0 ports along with VGA, LAN and HDMI- abundant connectivity for a 14-inch notebook.
Designed with sleek finished edges, there’s a matte-finished back to avoid the fingerprint-magnet tag. The keyboard is very well spaced; with better ergonomics and placement techniques.
VAIO E14A series is also available with Windows 8 in SVE14A27CNH and SVE14A25CN
The notebook is powered by an Intel Core i5-2450M CPU based on Sandy Bridge running at 2.5 GHz. Besides this, you get 4 GB of RAM, which can be increased to 16 GB. For storage there is a 640 GB hard drive, which offers sufficient storage and an AMD Radeon HD 7670M with 1 GB of dedicated video memory that powers graphics, along with ‘Switchable Graphics’ (discrete graphics go idle when not needed). Viewing is enhanced on a sharp, bright, high-res 1600 x 900 pixel screen, and it even works for outdoor viewing.
Onboard are also extra Sony apps for backup, Dolby Home Theatre v4 audio enhancements and xLOUD for better sound, PowerDVD, Adobe Flash, TriDef 3D Ignition and Media Gallery for multimedia. The E-series also ships with a matching keyboard skin and laser mouse.
In many ways, the durability and the fully-loaded appeal justify the price tag - you’re getting a serious computing machine.
