Xiaomi has announced a new entrant in their Redmi lineup, the Redmi 3S. As expected from Xiaomi, the device packs in some very good hardware in a budget package.

The device will feature a 5 inch HD display and will be powered by a Snapdragon 430 chipset with up to 3GB of RAM. The Snapdragon 430 uses four 1.2GHz Cortex A53 cores and four 1.5GHz Cortex A53 cores paired with an Adreno 505 GPU.

The phone will be available in two variants offering 16GB of internal storage and 2GB of RAM and 32GB of onboard storage and 3GB of RAM. Memory can be expanded via a microSD card up to 128GB in size.

You also get a 13MP rear camera with PDAF and a 5MP front camera. Both cameras can record at 1080p. Xiaomi has also seen fit to throw in a large, 4,100mAh battery.

The device supports a hybrid dual-SIM slot with micro+nano SIM support. However, the second SIM card slot doubles as a microSD card slot so you won’t be able to use two SIM cards and a microSD card simultaneously.

The phone will come in dark grey, silver and gold and will run on MIUI 7. It’s been announced in China at 699CNY (around Rs 7,100) and 899CNY (around Rs 9,200) for the 16GB and 32GB models. It’s not known whether the phone will be made available in India.
