Draw Something to become a TV show

If you’re not playing Draw Something anymore, Zynga’s making sure you will still be bombarded with the game. CBS and Zynga are partnering up to make a game show out of Draw Something. A report by Variety says that a pilot of the show was picked up by CBS and will be produced by Sony Pictures Television, Ryan Seacrest Productions, and Embassy Row. So what will this pilot be all about? Essentially a bunch of celebrities and regular humans will battle it out in front of a live television audience. Variety says that even audience members at home will be able to tune in and play. So that little game which you played as a break during work or before you went to sleep will now be translated into a television format.

Draw Something on CBS

Draw Something was originally developed by OMGPop and when Zynga saw the popularity of the game, they decided to buy OMGPop for $210 million. Since then, the enthusiasm for the game has waned, even though the game got an update about two months ago that would make it more social. Zynga has most likely, since then been trying to figure out how to monetize off of Draw Something and for now, this seems to be their plan. Letting audience members interact with the game, while it’s going on on television might be a key factor to regain enthusiasm for the game. However, that, like the game itself, has a pretty good chance of moving steadily downwards.

This is not the first time CBS has tried to convert a tech-pop culture icon into something dramatically visual. Remember that Twitter account @S***MyDadSays? Where a young man named Justin Halpern essentially tweeted the ridiculous statements that would come out of his father’s mouth? The account gained a lot of popularity and CBS decided to convert it into a sitcom. While the show won a People’s Choice Award for Best New Comedy and starred William Shatner as the dad, CBS decided to cancel the show last year in May. Which begs the question, how long will Draw Something last? S*** My Dad Says lasted a year. Can Draw Something beat that? Let us know what you think in the comments section below.

Paddy does not, we repeat, definitely does NOT belong in the category of Mac-head (yeh right!). She does get excited by her iPhone and her iMac and her iPod Nano and her Macbook and Bali's iPad and her future iHouse (patent pending). Ok, so maybe her head is a little bit forbidden fruit shaped. She likes shooting video (iPhone 4 camera zindabad!) and editing montages (Final Cut Pro zindabad!), whether the scene calls for it or no. In her spare time, she's either kicking it on stage with KB the keyboard or kicking butt at Taekwondo. see more
