Do you agree: Cell phones are harming kids, making us less empathetic

Stand-up comedian Louis C.K. has once again come out and blasted the over-dependency on cell phones in today's world. Is he right?

Louis C.K. is a stand-up comedian and actor who makes one too many dick jokes and has no politically correct bone in his body, but damn, is he funny. Just ask anyone who has watched his TV series ‘Louie’ or any of the myriad videos floating around on YouTube.
To the untrained eye, C.K. may come off as just another comedian, but underneath the no-holds-barred humour, there’s always a thin line of social commentary.

One of C.K.’s pet peeves is cell phone addiction and he has railed against the ill-effects of it on a couple of occasions in the past. On talk show Conan, C.K. reiterated his stance and talked about why he won’t be getting cell phones for his kid. Being constantly connected to the Internet and hooked to your cell phones or smartphones is making people less empathetic and less in touch with their emotions, he says. Have a look at the complete video to see what C.K. has to say:

One has to give C.K. some credit here: While there’s no doubt that the smartphone boom has made people more connected and introduced concepts that could potentially help billions, there is a case to be made for lack of human interaction in the modern world. It certainly doesn’t bode well for kids growing up in such an environment. What do you think? Does C.K. have a point? Or is this a mindless rant? Have your say.
