Oracle CEO Larry Ellison has been a controversial figure in the tech world, not because of his company but rather his penchant for calling out other tech luminaries and companies when he speaks.
In an interview with CBS News, Ellison said Apple will go down without the presence of Steve Jobs. Jobs, one of the most influential personalities in the world and co-founder of Apple, passed away in 2011, leaving a chasm in Apple’s leadership. CEO Tim Cook has tried to revive iPhone 5 sales around the world, but so far Android’s dominance coupled with low-cost smartphone alternative have made iPhone 5 a tough sell in many markets. There’s no doubt that Jobs was a massive presence in Apple and one always got the feeling that Apple’s products and services were on the right track when Jobs was at the helm.
