Electronic Arts has announced the Dev Team Edition for its upcoming survival horror game Dead Space 3. Along with the announcement, EA has also released a trailer.

The Dev Team Edition for Dead Space 3 features a bunch of extra goodies, including a giant metal case for the whole set. It also includes artwork and lithographs along with a figurine of a Marker, an S.C.A.F. Jotter and a bloody notebook that fleshes the universe out even more, among others.

Back in December, producer of the game Steve Papoutsis revealed in an interview with CVG that the game will be making special use of the Kinect to set the mood . According to Papoutsis, the game will detect certain expletives that the player may yell out when especially frightened by the game’s many jump scares and might react, giving you a unique gameplay experience.

“There are commands where you might be in a certain situation,” he said, “and you might yell a specific expletive and it might behave in a way that you want it to.”

He hasn’t said exactly which words will be detected, but it may not be all that difficult to guess. Also, going by the ingenuity of the Internet, it may not even take a whole day before the entire list of words that are detected by the game is available online.

EA earlier announced that the demo for Dead Space 3 would be available on the Xbox Live Marketplace and the PlayStation Network on January 22. As of yet, there is no sign of a demo for the PC.

The publisher also announced that gamers on the Xbox 360 can sign up on the game’s website and register their Origin IDs so that they could download the demo on January 15, instead of the original release date. Quantities of the early demo codes are limited, according to EA.

In preparation for the release, EA released a trailer that showed the story of the series so far. The trailer, titled The Story So Far , appropriately shows a recap of the events that lead up to the next game in the series. The trailer shows the protagonist—Isaac Clarke—going through some of the events of the previous games, such as killing Necromorphs on the Ishimura or finding gruesome sites of ritualistic murder. The trailer also retains the overall mood of the series through eerie music and the lack of any spoken dialogue.

Back in August, EA released some screenshots for Dead Space 3 . While most of the game’s campaign is set to take place on the frozen planet of Tau Volantis, the screenshots show that the player will also be going out into space in some levels.

The first game in the series had some zero-gravity sections, but they were more or less a gimmick at the time. The second game gave Isaac thrusters so that he could navigate through the zero-gravity sections better. Considering how much the second game focused on action over horror, and how much the same will be true for Dead Space 3, it seems like a smart idea to let the character be more maneuverable.

Ever heard of one of those people who just never seem to shut up about something? Shunal is like the nerd equivalent of that guy. Believe us when we say that he can go on talking about games and smartphones for hours on end. We do manage to find some insight in his insane ramblings though, and through his moronic facade, he does seem to know more than he lets on. Sadly enough, it always ends up being about gaming with him. Or stupid, stupid puns. see more
