All eyes are peeled for the Huawei P20 launch that is to take place on 27 March. However, reports are now emerging about Huawei's next Mate series smartphone as well. It would seem that the Chinese smartphone giant is changing its naming pattern for not only the P-series phones, but also the Mate series.
The Huawei P10 is being succeeded not by the P11, but by the P20. Similarly, according to a Chinese website named IThome, Huawei might be naming the successor of the Mate 10 smartphone as Mate 20 and not the Mate 11. The user has also provided the specs of the new Mate and Honor smartphones launching this year.
The Huawei Mate 20 and 20 Pro will have the yet-to-be-announced HiSilicon Kirin 980 SoC alongside 4 GB RAM + 64 GB storage and 6 GB RAM + 128 GB storage variants. The Mate 20 will also have a 5.9-inch 2K display while the Pro version will surprisingly have only a 1080p display, albeit with a 6-inch screen. Both Mate smartphones will come with a dual-camera system with 20MP + 12 MP sensors and a front camera with an 8 MP sensor.
As per the report, both devices are set to launch this October and have a price tag starting from CNY 3,899 (around Rs 39,000) for the Mate 20 and CNY 4,899 (around Rs 49,000) for the Mate 20 Pro. Other devices being launched by Huawei's sub-brand Honor are as follows.
Honor 10 and Honor 10 Lite
The Honor 10 will launch this June and will have a Kirin 970 SoC paired alongside 4 GB/6 GB of RAM and 64 GB/128 GB storage variants. There will be dual 12 MP + 20 MP cameras along with an 8 MP selfie camera. The phone will start from a price of CNY 2,299 (around Rs 23,000). Honor 10 Lite will have nearly all the same features except that it will be powered by the Kirin 960 SoC and will have 3 GB and 4 GB RAM variants. The Honor 10 Lite will start at a price of CNY 1,299 (around Rs 13,000).
Honor V10 Play and Honor V11
The Honor V11 has an expected release date of November this year. However, before that, Honor, as per the report, will launch the Honor V10 Play, which is going to have the exact same specs as the Honor 10 Lite. The Honor V11, on the other hand, will have the Kirin 970 SoC and a 6-inch 2K display. The device will also have 6 GB of RAM and will be available in 64 GB/128 GB storage variants. The device is expected to launch at a starting price tag of CNY 2,799.
It goes without saying that this information is only rumour at this point and hasn't officially been confirmed.
