While his classmates have been preparing for their board exams which begin on March 3, Guwahati school boy Afreed Islam has been busy working on a computer system that replaces a hard disk with a microchip. He launched the prototype of the computer system dubbed Revo Book earlier this week. It comes with dual operating system that allows using both Windows and Linux-based software simultaneously.   Afreed Islam is a student of Little Flower School, Hatigaon, and will be appearing for his Class X CBSE exams next month. According to The Hindu, he has replaced both mechanical and electronic hard disk drives with a microchip. The chip is used as a storage unit and avoids the risk of data loss or system crash.   He has also developed the ReVo IX operating system that comes installed on the microchip and allows faster execution speed, a built-in firewall and stands as a complete independent operating system. News has it that he has already applied for a patent.   Islam has reportedly collaborated with a German company to manufacture the computer system. Islam reportedly first conceived the idea to build the computer while he was in Class 8, but faced some issues while operating the computer system.   Another Indian boy, **Angad Daryani** , a home-schooled teenager has already built India’s first 3D printer using DIY kits and wants to bring 3D printing to every household. He decided to build 3D printer when he realised that people are importing these printers at a very high cost, while the cost of these printers is less than Rs 30,000.
