Dell announces Venue 10 7000 Android tablet with a 10.5-inch display and an attachable backlit keyboard

Dell has announced its new Android tablet, Venue 10 7000. It is the successor and the elder sibling to Venue 8 7000 that was launched in October last year. The Dell Venue 10 7000 comes with some similar internals as its predecessor, but features a larger 10.5-inch OLED display, with a resolution of 2560×1600 pixels. Under the hood, it is powered by a quad-core Intel Atom Z3580 processor. The tablet is sleek with a brushed aluminum finish, along with a metal cylinder along its longer side. It’s here that the tablet accommodates a battery and some internals. It comes with an attachable magnetic backlit keyboard that can then be used to position the tablet in five different modes - tablet, slate, stand, tent and clamshell. It also gets the Intel RealSense snapshot depth camera. Then there’s the intuitive Dell Gallery application with selective re-focusing and measurement functions, and also smart albums to automatically organise photos. “Dell customers want more from their tablets. They want to be productive and get work done wherever they are, they want a great entertainment experience, and they want to carry something that turns heads,” said Neil Hand, vice president, Dell Tablet Group. “The Venue 10 7000 gives our customers all that and more: enhanced productivity with a full-sized keyboard and Android for Work, a brilliant display and innovative features like the Intel RealSense snapshot depth camera, all wrapped in a gorgeous design.” The Venue 10 comes with a 7,000mAh battery, and the company claims seven hours of battery life. The tablet will be available in May, starting at $499 (approx. Rs 31,035). The Dell tablet with the magnetic keyboard is priced at $629 (approx. Rs 39,133). It will be available via Dell.com in the US, Canada and China.
