Smartphone-wielding commuters of the Delhi Metro have a reason to smile now. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has made it simpler now for such commuters to search for the nearest Metro station, fares for their travel to the desired location, information on timings of the first and last train at stations, parking information, travel time for their journey, Metro route information and the Metro map, courtesy of a smartphone application.
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation app for Android and iOS devices is currently up for grabs on their respective app stores. The application was launched only recently.
Delhi Metro gets new apps
In addition to the aforementioned features, the app also provides information to users on landmarks/tourist spots near Metro stations, address and contact number of the “Lost & Found” cell, details of feeder bus services available at these stations with their routes, information about the Metro Museum, DMRC helpline number for assistance, suggestions, complaints and feedback, and security helpline number, among other information.
Elaborating further on the apps, a statement from DMRC reads, “These applications will, therefore, help the passengers to view information related to the train services of DMRC and related information on their own. These key functionalities will make up the home screen of the smart phone application of the user. Using the tabs available on the home screen, the user can navigate to the desired section/feature and get the required information.”
