CyanogenMod releases CM 11 M7 Snapshot; Android 4.4.3-based Nightlies available

If you are running CyanogenMod (CM) 11, there's a new update waiting for you. The guys have released CM 11 M7, the latest monthly release full of updates and bug fixes for the KitKat ROM. However, if you were expecting merging of all Android 4.4.3 changes, you will have to wait till early July for the M release, but if you are feeling adventurous try out the nightly which already has merged Android 4.4.3 changes.

CM is by far the most widely supported custom ROM and in fact has two official phones running the OS. The M7 snapshot is for any of the 50 devices currently supported.  It includes a number of interesting new features with changes to some of the features added in the last round of updates. Two relate specifically to Trebuchet, the launcher. Settings have been moved to a new slide-out panel within Trebuchet's app interface, while home and drawer options get consolidated settings.

The CM Theme Chooser UI gets an overhaul and is now on the latest version, letting you selectively pick aspects of the UI that you want to skin. The Calculator app has undergone a revamp and now features support for Glass.

CM now has FFMPEG support for expanded media format, as well as improved support for car audio systems and docks that use Bluetooth. M7 also brings performance improvements for low memory devices such as those with 512MB RAM., while Performance Profiles has new tools such as low-battery options and high-power mode for gaming.

M7 also has a new "protected app" feature that lets users choose apps which will be behind a passcode. It's one of several additional non-Stock security features CM has built into the ROM since its inception, including support for encrypted messaging, as well as support for per-app permissions control.
