While we recently heard about Facebook’s swanky town for its employees, another piece of news now tells us that Apple’s spaceship-like headquarters has been finally approved by the Cupertino City Council. In a tweet, Tim cook said, “Our home for innovation and creativity for decades to come. Cupertino City Council Gives Unanimous Approval for Apple’s New Campus.”
According to San Jose Mercury News , the spaceship campus project has already received the required approvals but one more final meet is still pending. The publication says that the council will be meeting once more on November 15 for a final word.

The 2.8 million square foot headquarters beside Interstate 280 is to fulfill co-founder Steve Jobs’ dreams. Jobs had been looking forward to this “spaceship” design and hoped that it would reflect his company’s product design ideas_. “Steve transformed Apple into one of the most innovative companies in the world and we understand the responsibilities that come from carrying his legacy forward with this project,”_ Apple’s head of real estate and facilities Dan Whisenhunt reportedly told the council.
The new facility is expected to accommodate 14,000 employees. The construction was slated to begin last year but had to be pushed due to concerns over the budget. It is now believed that if the schedule goes as planned, the spaceship campus would be ready by mid-2016.
