Crytek uses other games to showcase CryENGINE 3

One of the most technically powerful game engines is the CryENGINE. While Crytek is using its upcoming game, Crysis 3, to showcase the power of CryENGINE 3, the company has also showcased seven games created using the engine to show attendees at the recent G-Star gaming expo according to Dark Side of Gaming.

The CryENGINE 3 games on display were from a wide spectrum, from early works in progress to complete finished products, and were made by developers including Wemade, XL Games and ESTSoft.

Carl Jones, Director of Global Business Development of CryENGINE said, “More and more developers in Asia are discovering the benefits of working with CryENGINE 3. With such a vast and passionate audience of gamers to cater for, developers need technology that allows them to work quickly whilst still ensuring the end product still stands out from the crowd. Increasingly, studios across Asia are realizing that makes CryENGINE 3 the natural choice."

Crytek is showcasing CryENGINE 3 through other games

The full list of games developed using CryENGINE 3 include ArcheAge by XLGames, ASTA by Polygon Games, Baseball The Fan by Wisecat, Cabal2 by ESTSoft, Dragon’s Prophet by Runewalker, Icarus by Wemade, and Tour Golf Online by Onnet.

The main game being used to showcase CryENGINE 3 is Crysis 3. Recently, Crytek released a new trailer for Crysis 3. The trailer shows some action with the new bow weapon, along with some new changes to the gameplay from the previous games. The biggest change is that sprinting no longer eats up the nanosuit’s energy, and has its own cooldown timer to prevent you from running for an infinite amount of time. Sprinting while cloaked still eats up the suit’s energy fast though. CryTek has also pointed out that the video is still alpha gameplay footage, but judging by the video, the game doesn’t seem very far from a full release.

It was revealed earlier this month that pre-ordering Crysis 3 on EA’s Origin service will get you a free copy of the original Crysis. Crysis 3 will be available in February of 2013 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 computer and PC.

The Crysis 3 Hunter Edition gives players tools to become the ultimate hunter in multiplayer with instant access to the new signature Predator bow and its attachments plus the Hunter Nanosuit module, which adds additional power and functionality to the super-suit. Owners of the Crysis 3 Hunter Edition will also have a head start when playing online with a bonus XP boost up to level 5, a unique Predator bow skin and three exclusive dog tags to hunt in style. The Crysis 3 Hunter Edition is available on Origin.com and other participating retailers for $59.99 (approximately Rs 3,216).

In Crysis 3, players take on the role of Prophet as he returns to New York, only to discover that the city has been encased in a Nanodome created by the corrupt Cell Corporation. The New York City Liberty Dome is a veritable urban rainforest teeming with overgrown trees, dense swamplands and raging rivers. Within the Liberty Dome, seven distinct and treacherous environments become known as the Seven Wonders. This dangerous new world demands advanced weapons and tactics. Prophet will utilise a lethal composite bow, an enhanced Nanosuit, and devastating alien tech to become the deadliest hunter on the planet.
