Crystal Dynamics has no plans for single player DLC for Tomb Raider

If you played the Tomb Raider reboot and liked the single player campaign, you may have to wait for a sequel to get another fix of raiding tombs. According to Videogamer, Karl Stewart, Global Brand Director - Tomb Raider, has revealed that Crystal Dynamics will not be making any single player DLC for the game. All of the DLC that Tomb Raider will get is going to be multiplayer-based, with most of them being new maps.

“There are currently no plans in place for any Single Player expansions,” said Tomb Raider’s global brand director Karl Stewart in a Reddit AMA. “All of our DLC is based around the Multiplayer experience for now.”

The AMA also revealed that despite fans wanting it, the company will not be making a “classic outfit DLC”. This would have definitely been a big hit, though, as the new Lara Croft in the reboot may turn some of the old-time fans of the series away.

“We did try to have a lot of nods to the classics in this reboot,” said Creative Director Noah Hughes, “and even her outfit itself is intended to evoke her classic outfit in a way, but is more practical for her situation. This was just an example of trying to play that balance between fresh and familiar.”

This is the turning point for Lara Croft

No plans for single player DLC

Square Enix recently launched a multiplayer DLC pack for Tomb Raider. The maps in the DLC are called Scavenger Caverns, Cliff Shantytown and Burning Village. Scavenger Caverns is set to be an underground map and promises to be more up close and personal than the other maps. The Burning Village, like the name suggests, will probably have fire playing an important role in the map design. Compared to the other maps in the DLC, Cliff Shantytown looks like it’ll be more open.

The DLC is only available for the Xbox 360 right now, where it you can pick it up for 400 Microsoft Points (Rs 273). Square hasn’t revealed the release date for other platforms yet.

Tomb Raider was released earlier this month and is available at game stores and online retailers for the PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. It costs Rs 2,499 on the PS3 and the Xbox 360, and Rs 999 on the PC. The game is also available on Steam, but for a much higher price of $49.99, which roughly translates to Rs 2,700.

This Tomb Raider game is a reboot of the original series and tells the story of how Lara Croft went from being an ordinary girl to the Tomb Raider we have come to know. The game has her stranded on a fictional, tropical island called Yamatai where she has to survive against bandits and nature.

Ever heard of one of those people who just never seem to shut up about something? Shunal is like the nerd equivalent of that guy. Believe us when we say that he can go on talking about games and smartphones for hours on end. We do manage to find some insight in his insane ramblings though, and through his moronic facade, he does seem to know more than he lets on. Sadly enough, it always ends up being about gaming with him. Or stupid, stupid puns. see more
