Creative launches new portable speakers Muvo 20, Muvo 10 and Woof

Singapore-based Creative has added three new speakers to its portfolio, the Creative MUVO  20, Creative MUVO 10 and the Creative Woof. The MUVO series speakers are Near-Field Communication (NFC) and Bluetooth-enabled portable wireless speakers, while the Creative Woof is a micro-sized, ultra-portable Bluetooth wireless speaker. Best suited for small offices and bedrooms, we take a quick look at what each of these speakers have to offer.

Creative MUVO 20

The priciest of the three, this geometric speaker can work as a  battery bank to charge your mobile devices through its USB port. It supports NFC for playing music from a compatible device just by tapping it on the speaker. It claims up to 10 hours of playback on a single charge, though this might vary depending on the volume setting you choose. Non NFC users can pair music devices through Bluetooth. Creative packs a dual-flared bass port, which should help provide boomier bass. Other features include the ubiquitous 3.5mm headphone jack for aux connections and a speaker phone for hands-free call answering. The Creative MUVO 20 is priced at Rs 7,999.

Creative MUVO 10

If you don’t need the battery bank feature, users can opt for the Muvo 10 lighter in terms of both weight and price. It looks just like the Muvo 20, except for the added handle on the right. Playback controls are ergonomically placed on the front of the speaker. It includes all the other features of the Muvo 20, playing music wirelessly from Bluetooth or NFC supported devices. With a claimed battery life of eight hours, the Muvo 10 might not run as long as the Muvo 20. At Rs 5,999, the MUVO 10 is a slightly cheaper alternative to the MUVO 20.

Creative Woof

The tiniest portable speaker in Creative’s new speaker range is small enough to carry one-handed. The metallic body gives it a premium feel and you’ll find a common Bluetooth and speakerphone control placed at the top. The other playback controls are placed at the bottom. Unlike the Muvo 10 and 20, there isn’t any bass reflex system in the Woof, so the audio might sound quite flat and lacking that punch you’ll see in more advanced portable speakers. It might be fine for mild listening, though.

There’s no support for NFC either. The Woof runs on a lithium-ion battery, which claims up to six hours of playtime and can be recharged via the micro-USB port. There’s an auto sleep mode that powers off the speaker to conserve its battery life when there is no active Bluetooth or aux-in connection for more than 10 minutes.
