4G smartphone brand Jio Lyf needed just sales over one quarter to become one of the top five biggest smartphone sellers in the country.

Counterpoint, a technology research firm, posted a report of smartphone shipping. The numbers showed the Jio Lyf shipped the fifth most number of devices compared to all manufacturers in India. The most shipped smartphones in India were by Samsung, Micromax, Intex, Lenovo and Lyf. These are just numbers tracking device movements, the actual sales of the devices are expected to happen over the course of the year. Further, Lyf actually overtook Micromax and Lenovo to become the second largest supplier for LTE smartphones in India.

This is stunning news, as the figures are impressive for a company that has been active for only one quarter. The numbers are also an indication of the scale of the Jio roll out. Jio is testing out its network on Lyf handsets it has given to employees. There are five Lyf handsets available in the market. Flame 1 is priced at Rs. 5,599, Wind 6 is at Rs 6,599. There are two Water variants, Water 1 priced at Rs 14,699 and Water 2 at Rs. 13,599. Earth is the top of the line Lyf priced at Rs 19,499. All phones support LTE and WiFi, and come pre loaded with a suite of Jio Applications.
