Could Xiaomi release a smartwatch today?

We’ve been hearing of plans by Xiaomi to launch a smartwatch for well over a year. In a report dated November 21, 2014, Hugo Barra hinted at plans in a YouTube video . Although these plans were known, the rise of smartwatches by other Android device manufacturers such as LG, Samsung, Huawei, Lenovo, Motorola and several others have increased consumer interest, and could have influenced the decision to focus attention on this product category. In July this year, there were reports that Xiaomi indeed was working on a smartwatch, which could carry a price tag of 600 Yuan ($96), or approximately Rs 6,100. According to the initial leak by GizmoChina, the rumoured smartwatch was to feature a Snapdragon 410 64-bit quad-core processor paired with 512 RAM. It would also include an internal storage of 4GB with a heart rate monitor expected as well. It was supposed to have a 1.3-inch display, but there was no confirmation. With an event scheduled for 24 November, and teasers of the Redmi Note 2 Pro and Mi Pad 2 by Xiaomi President Bin Lin, reports of a smartwatch expected to release are also doing the rounds. According to a report in GforGames, citing a Weibo post, a smartwatch will be launched during the Xiaomi event today.
