Cortana will now listen to voice commands via Skype integration on iOS, Android and Windows: Report

A recent report by MSPowerUser now claims that Microsoft’s Cortana has finally been integrated with **Skype** , its video conferencing and messaging service. It has been quite a while since Microsoft has been trying to deliver Cortana integration in bits and pieces, but now the service integration is finally complete. [caption id=“attachment_4030407” align=“alignleft” width=“380”]Skype Skype[/caption] The same report points out that Skype users using the client on Android, iOS and Windows, will now see a pop-up in the conversation or the thread itself with a special button for summoning the assistant when needed. Users will then need to grant access to **Cortana** , giving out their location details and other permissions, necessary for the AI assistant to give out suggestions. Once all the permissions have been granted, Cortana, very much like **Google's Allo** (using Assistant) will be able to suggest both responses to chat messages and give out a couple of other details as well. As of now, we cannot expect Cortana to give out answer complex questions, but the report hints that she will be able to answer simple facts, news and the usual weather-related queries. If you are wondering why Cortana isn’t able to answer anything complex? Well, that’s because of the lack of deeper integration. At the moment, it’s just Cortana that has been integrated into the Skype app (not Cortana reaching out into the OS). So with limited access to data that’s all that she will be able to do on other platforms. Those interested need to keep in mind that Cortana integration for Skype on Windows is only for the Windows Preview builds. Windows 10 users will have to wait.
