Computex 2010: MSI at Computex 2010

MSI may not be all that visible in the Indian end of the world, but we don’t know that their netbooks have been around for a long time now. The latest, from what we gathered at Computex 2010, is that they have big plans for us and their overall global market. Here’s a closer look at what we just might see in the coming months from Taiwan based MSI.

The focus didn’t seem to be too much on the netbook scene but rather on offering users a whole range of new age computer technology. Cashing in on the latest trends like touchscreen PCs, tablets/slates, and the 3D gaming experience, MSI has a lot in store for us, but here’s what I liked best at the their booth.

The Wind Pad 110
The Wind Pad is a yet to be officially announced tablet PC that will run on the Android Operating System. The prototype on display was quite buggy but like I said, its work in progress. The design though is something I can talk about. It’s has a sleeker form as compared to the rather generic Wind Pad 100 which is the Windows 7 version. It’s sleek, light weight and will have what they say is a ‘powerhouse of a battery’. Form multi-touch to a possible HDMI output port with multiple video format support and a lot more in terms of connectivity, MSI also hinted at this being priced within the reach of the average ‘mobile phone’ user. Which means, we don’t know what the price is going to be, but if it costs as much as an Android handset, well, it’s something I’d seriously consider.

The 110 will be out sometime next year after the Wind Pad 100 has been around for awhile so if you’re an Android fan you might want to hold on for a bit longer. The Wind Pad 110 will also come with a similar custom user interface just like one would expect in a mobile handset. The question is, will it really stand up to all that will come before it, which in all certainty will be a large number of devices.
