Soon videos from your favourite YouTube channel could be available on your television sets in India.
According to an Economic Times report, Google’s global director of platform partnerships, Francisco Varela said that the company is “in talks with direct-to-home cable providers to bring the service to televisions screens.”
HoweverVarela refused to elaborate on the tie-ups or name the DTH providers Google is in discussions with.
As far YouTube in India is concerned, it had over55 million unique visitors every month and 40 percent of users were accessing the service on mobile phones.
Gautam Anand, YouTube Asia Pacific director for contentpartnerships had earlier told PTI that ,“The way people consume content has changed dramatically.We are building a platform for the next set of subscribers. Wehave partnerships with various broadcasters and contentproviders for movies and TV shows (both new and archived). "
Google also recently held a Comedy Week in India after launching one in Britain and US.
Google had also revealed in a study that more than 70 percent of YouTube’s viewers in India are under the age of 35, while 72 percent have a college degree or higher, it added.
