In part one and part two of our CoD 4 guides, we discussed the basic mechanics of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, and how the Rank and Unlock systems work. This is the last part of the guide, where we’ll show you some of our favorite load-outs in the game that helped get us from rank 1 all the way up to 55 with relative ease. Feel free to indulge in a spot of tweaking to personalize them as you wish.
SMG Love
Primary Weapon – MP5 (w/ Red Dot Sight)
Side Arm – Any
Special Grenade – Stun
Perk 1 - Stunx3
Perk 2 - Juggernaut
Perk 3 – Extreme Conditioning

This is the cookie cutter sub-machine gun (SMG) loadout that you can assemble pretty early on. The MP5 is a sturdy and highly maneuverable, yet versatile weapon that allows you to spray bullets on your enemy while running around like mad. Its range falls in the 50 percent area, making it a decent close quarter weapon. Try and stay out of medium-range battles while using this weapon, and totally avoid long-range ones.
The Health bonus from Juggernaut helps you a bit in close quarter battles by giving you an extra bit of health that might help you make it through intense firefights. Extreme Conditioning lets you sprint considerably longer, allowing you to stay away from long corridors and move from cover to cover quickly.
While playing this class, always stay on the frontlines. Fling stun grenades around corners to get the upper edge before you rush in. Use sprint liberally and ensure you’re always close to the most intense action. When possible, try and get behind enemy lines to be most effective – with Juggernaut and additional stun grenades, you stand a better chance to survive than them.

Your Classic Militant
Primary Weapon – AK-47 (w/ Red Dot Sight)
Side Arm – Any
Special Grenade – Flash
Perk 1 – Flashx3
Perk 2 – Stopping Power
Perk 3 – Deep Impact

The AK is a rather inaccurate assault rifle, but it has some awesome damage output and incredible range. This means you’re going to be spamming a lot of bullets no matter what range you’re battling in, so to avoid running out of rounds, try and use bursts of 3-5 shots in medium/long ranges.
We’ve clubbed the AK with Flashx3 rather than Stunx3 because although Flash grenades have a less disorienting effect than Stun, they have a larger effective radius making them less likely to miss the intended target. Your Stopping Power and Deep Impact perks allow you to really deliver the hurt to enemies behind cover even, so use this to your advantage and try and get them while they’ve behind cover to have the upper edge in mid-ranged firefights.

Kamikaze
Primary Weapon – M1014 (w/ Grip)
Side Arm – Preferably Desert Eagle
Special Grenade – Stun
Perk 1 – None (Grip attachment takes up this slot)
Perk 2 – Sleight of Hand
Perk 3 – Martyrdom

This is my favorite class! I love using the semi-automatic shotgun since it allows you to dart around like mad while shooting, making you a very elusive target in close range; and with Martyrdom, you even go boom after you die, killing those around you! The grip attachment increases accuracy tremendously, but you’ve got to get 100+ kills with the weapon to complete two challenges in order to unlock the attachment.
Since it’s a semi-automatic weapon with a very small bullet capacity, you’ll run out of ammo quickly. Thanks to Sleight of Hand, you can reload really fast, so a small clip shouldn’t be a problem. While playing this class, ensure that you stick to walls while sprinting to make it less likely for enemies to spot you until they take a full turn around corners. Get close to the enemy and dart around like mad while keeping your crosshair on their chest-head area while unloading all your ammunition.
The best part about this gun is that it’s accurate (in close range) while jumping around too – so use that to your advantage and move really unpredictably while engaging the enemy.

P90 Perforation
Primary Weapon – P90 (w/ Red Dot Sight)
Side Arm – Any
Special Grenade – Stun
Perk 1 – Fragx3
Perk 2 – Double Tap
Perk 3 – Martyrdom

The P90 is the best SMG out there, so treat it with respect and it shall drill holes into your enemies like there’s no tomorrow. The gun is stupendously accurate in mid-ranged battles and with its really huge magazine capacity, it allows you to stay in battle with the trigger pressed down for a long, long time.
Double Tap doubles the rate of fire of your gun; normally, with guns that have small magazines, this perk would’ve been impractical since you’d run out of ammunition within seconds. But with the P90, this perk fits like a glove. You basically fire twice the number of bullets really accurately at anything that comes your way, which makes you a real threat to oncoming rushes of enemies.

Unlikely Sniper
Primary Weapon – M14 (w/ACOG Scope)
Side Arm – Desert Eagle
Special Grenade – Stun
Perk 1 – Bandolier
Perk 2 – Stopping Power
Perk 3 – Steady Aim

I’ve never been a fan of sniping in COD 4, but this gun made me change my opinion. The assault rifle is semi-automatic, which means that every time you pull the trigger you shoot only one bullet. With the ACOG scope and the damage increase from the Stopping Power perk, this gun becomes a sort of rapid-fire sniper rifle that allows you to hold and secure corridors single-handedly.
When playing with this weapon, find a good spot to snipe from, so that your back’s secure (i.e. there’s no corridor that opens up at your back). Place yourself in such a way that only enough of your body is exposed to allow you to cover a small area of the map. If your enemy manages to get close, your Steady Aim perk will allow you to shoot even while unzoomed, making the M14 a rather versatile sniper rifle.
