COAI: GSM mobile service providers add 44 lakh new customers in September

The month of September saw a jump in the number of GSM users in India. According to the newest data released by the Cellular Operators Association of India, GSM mobile service providers have together added more than 44 lakh new customers in September. This increases the overall customer base to 67.88 crore in September.

The report says that the GSM subscribers have increased by 4.41 million in September 2013, which is a 0.65 percent increase from the previous month. The total GSM subscribers as of September 2013 now stand at 678.82 million. However, it should be noted that this overall number of new additions could be much more as the data doesn’t include new subscribers from Reliance Communications and Tata Teleservices who are not members of COAI.
