Apparently, there are people who want you to think that they do have an iPhone, even if they don’t. China is a happy producer of fake Apple products, including fake devices and fake stores, but this is a new one. There is a service in China, which you can subscribe to and it will add a “Sent from my iPhone” tagline at the bottom of messages. According to the Financial Times , user of QQ, which is a large instant messaging service in China can now access a hack, which comes from Taobao, China’s largest consumer to consumer online marketplace that will place the “Sent from my iPhone” tagline in their messages. The idea is to copy the tag that emails sent from iPhones contain. The purpose of that tag in iPhones, though is not necessarily one of elitism (though consumers might think so), but one to denote that the message was sent from a mobile device and therefore any spelling or grammar errors, or even the curtness of the tone in the e-mail should be excused.

The iPhone 4S starts at Rmb4,988 (approx Rs.38,851), which is unaffordable to a large population, especially those that use QQ. The instant messaging service is largely used by people in smaller towns in China, who are younger, less affluent and less educated. The service to add the tag costs between Rmb6 to Rmb8, per month (approximately Rs.46 to Rs.62). To sign up, users need to submit their usernames and passwords. This, as can be expected, comes with security issues as China’s cybercriminals have been stealing QQ numbers, for a long time now. The numbers can be used to access virtual good currency that have been collected by China’s many online gamers.

Paddy does not, we repeat, definitely does NOT belong in the category of Mac-head (yeh right!). She does get excited by her iPhone and her iMac and her iPod Nano and her Macbook and Bali's iPad and her future iHouse (patent pending). Ok, so maybe her head is a little bit forbidden fruit shaped. She likes shooting video (iPhone 4 camera zindabad!) and editing montages (Final Cut Pro zindabad!), whether the scene calls for it or no. In her spare time, she's either kicking it on stage with KB the keyboard or kicking butt at Taekwondo.
