China's Meizu launches M1 Note in India at Rs 11,999; Amazon offering phone as part of open sale

Meizu has launched the M1 Note in India at Rs 11,999, exclusively via Amazon. Unlike most phones that are sold in the flash-sales model where you have to pre-register and then try your luck in the flash sale, the Meizu M1 Note will be sold in an open sale model which does not require any registration. “We see India as a huge opportunity and are very excited to bring the much awaited m1 note to the country. We are committed to bring high-quality technology at a very attractive price and deliver a great user experience. The Meizu m1 note will come at an incredibly affordable price point of INR 11999. The superior quality and performance at a very competitive price will ensure providing the best experience to mobile users. We are also thrilled to partner with Amazon India and leverage their breadth of expertise to give the best customer experience when ordering for a device.” said Li Nan, the Vice president of Meizu. https://twitter.com/Meizu_India/status/600218025778774016 In terms of specifications, the Meizu m1 Note sports a 5.5-inch 1920 x 1080 pixel display covered by Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. It comes powered by a MediaTek MT6752 SoC with an octa-core Cortex A53 cores along with 2GB of RAM. The m1 Note runs Android 4.4.4 KitKat atop which it has its proprietary Flyme 4 skin. On the camera front, you get a 13MP rear camera with LED flash and a 5MP front-facing camera. There is a 3,140 mAh battery under the hood. On the connectivity front, you have LTE, 802.11 b/g/n, GPS/A-GPS, GLONASS, microUSB and Bluetooth 4.0. The Meizu m1 Note is priced at around $220 which comes to around Rs 13,800 which seems like a decent price point. However, this is just a speculation at the moment. With Meizu, India will have one more Chinese smartphone brand after players such as Oppo, Xiaomi, Lenovo and Huawei. Last week, Meizu had used ‘Are You OK? 5.18 see! see!’ as the headline in its promotional, which is a clear reference to Xiaomi co-founder’s viral video of the same name. While the market share of Meizu is nowhere close to Xiaomi, it seems like Meizu is positioning itself as an alternative to Xiaomi phones. Earlier this year, Alibaba had made a **$590 million investment** in Meizu.
