Chimp experiencing VR is funny and sad at the same time

An online video has appeared where a chimp by the name of ‘Sugriva’ is seen wearing an HTC Vive. The video shows the chip watching galaxies in the first part and the later part it appears that the chimp is watching a video with trees and fruits. The 51-second clip was posted by ‘T.I.G.E.R.S. Preservation Station’ on their Facebook page .

Initially, the video is quite funny with the absurdity of a chimp wearing a VR headset and trying unsuccessfully to grab onto whatever object that is displayed onscreen. It may seem that the chip is confused with the scenes rendered by the VR headset and thinks that virtual world is real for it. But the more you wants the video, the more it turns sad as one tends to realise that what one is laughing at. According to the video caption, the chimp is ‘playing in virtual reality’ in support for the ‘rare species fund’. But according to different users on Reddit , onegreenplanet.org, a platform ‘for the growing compassionate and eco-conscious generation,’ points out that T.I.G.E.R.S. Preservation Station has a long history of animal abuse with about more than 38 different violations between 1988 and 2014. Some people are expressing outrage at the entire situation while others are just sharing the video without any context.
