The Consumer Electronics Show or CES is just around the corner which means leaks, rumours and speculations. However, here is something that comes straight form the horse’s mouth. LG has sent out a press release for a new Bluetooth speaker that it will be launching in January. Called the PJ9, the most attractive feature of the speaker is that it can float in mid air.
According to LG, the PJ9 Bluetooth speaker comes with a ‘Levitation Station’ that is fitted with powerful electromagnets. This allows the PJ9 speaker to float in mid-air right on top of the station. Sounds interesting, but this isn’t a new concept as a lot of lesser known brands have already made similar floating speakers. What will be unique though is the how it charges. When the PJ9 is running low on battery, it automatically descends towards the Levitation Station and charges wirelessly. Once fully charged, the PJ9 should run for about 10 hours.
Moving to the speaker itself, it features a 360 degree omni-directional speaker design, which the company says helps in producing ‘deep bass, flush mid-range tones and crisp highs.’ The speaker is also IPX7 compliant which means that it can withstand immersion in water up to 1 meter for 30 minutes, so basically you can use the speaker in your shower as well. You get standard Bluetooth connectivity along with Multipoint technology which means you can connect two Bluetooth devices at the same time.
More details regarding price and availability will be revealed at CES 2017.
