Lenovo has unveiled its latest tablet - the modular ThinkPad X1 Tablet - which features modules for various functionalities such as increasing battery life via the Productivity module, presentation abilities with a Projector module and a 3D Imaging Module. The modules can be clipped on to the ThinkPad X1 Tablet. Lenovo claims that the Productivity module increases the battery life by 5 hours. The Projector module comes with an in-built pico projector, similar to what we have seen with the Yoga Pro tablets, which can project a display upto 60-inches. The 3D Imaging Module comes with an Intel RealSense 3D camera for professional work. While the modules need to be bought separately, the tablet will come with detachable Thinkpad keyboard with the red track point.
The ThinkPad X1 Tablet will start selling from February from $899 onwards (approx Rs 60,000). The Productivity Module will be available starting February from $149 (approx Rs 10,000). The Projector Module will be available starting May from $279 (approx Rs 18,500). The 3D Imaging Module will be available starting May from $149 (approx Rs 10,000). The ThinkPad X1 Tablet has a 12-inch display with a 2160x1440 pixel resolution and measures around 7.62mm thick. Weighing around 794 grams, the ThinkPad X1 Tablet houses an Intel Core M processor. It supports 16GB of RAM and has 1TB on NVMe flash storage. It comes with a ThinkPad keyboard which can be magnetically attached to the tablet. The tablet also has a kickstand just like the Surface Pro 4.
