Smartphones with better selfie-cameras were the rage at the CES 2015. First Lenovo launched the Vibe X Pro smartphone with dual-13 megapixel camera and now HTC has done the same with its Desire 826. As far as other features of the HTC Desire 826 go, it has a 5.5-inch full HD 1080p display, dual front-facing stereo speakers that we’ve come to see on all latest HTC models and of course the 13-megapixel camera in front and rear. It runs the Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 octa-core 64-bit processor which is clocked at 1.7GHz, has 2GB RAM, 16 GB storage space and runs the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop OS along with HTC Sense. The smartphone has a 2600 mAh battery and supports 4G LTE. As this post in AnandTech points out, the smartphone is quite similar in specs to the HTC Desire 820 that was launched last year. While both have the same processor, RAM and storage space, HTC Desire 820 was clocked lower at 1.5 GHz unlike the Desire 826 which is clocked at 1.7 GHz. HTC Desire 826 will come in colours like White Birch, Blue Lagoon, Purple Fire. The HTC Desire 820 was launched in India in September 2014 for Rs 24,500 which meant that it was definitely over the mid-budget range of Rs 20,000. The Desire 820 however had only an HD screen, an 8 megapixel camera in the front and a 32-bit processor and ran Android 4.4 aka KitKat OS. With HTC Desire 826, we can see that the company has increased the screen resolution, the camera specs, and is offering the latest OS. This could well mean that the Desire 826 will launch with a bigger price tag. For now, all we know is that the roll out will start in Asia-Pacific region by January.
