CES 2014: Nikon debuts entry-level D3300 with Expeed 4 image processor

Nikon’s new D3300, entry-level DSLR, made an appearance at the Consumer Electronics Show, Las Vegas. The D3300 will replace the D3200 from last year and will come with an Expeed 4 image processor.

The camera comes with a 24.2MP DX-format CMOS sensor and can shoot full HD videos too. Nikon has done away with the optical low-pass filter for the D3300. The camera is capable of 5fps high-speed continous shooting mode and an ISO range of 100 to 12800. The ISO ensures great quality images even in low light an 11-point Autofocus System ensures that you can capture moving stories easily.

With the D3300, you can opt for an optional WU-1a Wireless Mobile Adapter which will let you take advantage of Wi-Fi connectivity and let you upload and download images and videos to a smart device easily. You can also use the remote Live View monitor and turn your mobile devices into a remote control for the camera.

The camera comes with 13 in-camera effects and four new effects modes, including Photo Illustration, Super Vivid and Pop. The fourth mode is the first for Nikon HD-SLRs called the Easy Panorama Mode, and it does exactly what the name suggests. You can also shoot videos in Full 1080p HD up to 60p.

The D3300 is also equipped with an electronic viewfinder and comes with the compact AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR II standard zoom lens that incorporates a new retractable lens barrel design found in Nikon’s 1 NIKKOR lens series.

The Nikon D3300 will be available in three colors – Black, Red and Grey – starting early February 2014, but the price has not been revealed yet. The international pricing for the D3300 is $649.95 (Rs 40,543 approx.) and for the 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR II lens is $249.95 (Rs 15,591approx.) and for the NIKKOR 35mm f/1.8G lens is $599.95 (Rs 37,424 approx.)
