The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2013, the biggest tech show in the world, is underway at Las Vegas. Covering the whole gamut of consumer tech products, the week-long event will reveal what the brands have to offer for the coming year. In the past couple of months leading to the event, we witnessed a number of speculations and product details being leaked, which will now finally be official. We have listed here a few such leaks, pre-announcements and products that will be revealed at the show.
Sony Xperia Z

Sony’s Xperia Z smartphone first appeared in November codenamed C660X Yuga. News has it that it is almost confirmed that the Xperia Z will make its debut at the CES this year. The highlight of the smartphone is its 5-inch full HD Reality display with a resolution of 1080p, 13 megapixel camera and water resistant body. Falling under the high-end smartphone actegory, it could be one of the tough contenders in the large screen 1080p smartphone category.
YouTube Mobile/TV pairing

In November, YouTube had announced that it will make it easier to watch YouTube videos on TV. YouTube will be showcasing this feature at the CES as it brings mobile/TV pairing feature to devices from Bang & Olufsen, LG, Panasonic and Sony. These new devices will embody the latest look and feel for YouTube on TV. It will allow users to watch HD videos and channels, new videos from subscriptions, 1080p playlists and find videos quicker.
Vuzix M100 Smart Glass

After tantalising us with the amazing videos that displayed the capabilities of the glasses, we haven’t heard much from Google about when we can expect to see the Google Glass in the market. Beating Google to it, CES 2013 will see Vuzix showcasing its M100 Smart Glass. Running on Android 4, the device can shoot 720p video and features 4GB storage, GPS, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Even though the piece on display at the show is a prototype, the company claims that it’s ready to ship. It also recently released the SDK for developers to create apps.
Corning Gorilla Glass 3

Corning Glass is a regular feature on any smartphone or tablet. Known for its strength and, most importantly, keeping scratches at bay, the glass ensures safety of your device. And there’s more reason to rejoice as the company has announced two new products at the event – the Corning Gorilla Glass 3 and Optical Cables. The former features a new glass composition with durability enhancements and according to reports, promises 40 percent fewer scratches and can stand three times as much force than before. On the other hand, the Optical Cables are fibre-based, device-to-device connectivity solutions that significantly extend the data transmission range past the limits of copper-based cables.
ZTE smartphones

The Chinese phone manufacturer has quite a few aces up its sleeve and looks all set with an array of smartphones to showcase at the show. The one that is making quite a buzz is the Grand S smartphone. This ultra-thin device, reported to be the international variant of its Nubia Z5, will feature a 5-inch full HD display, a quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, 13 megapixel rear camera and is likely to run on Android Jelly Bean. It’s also rumoured that the company will display its 5.7 inch smartphone, P945. According to reports, apart from the big screen, the phone will feature 720 x 1280 pixel display, 1.2GHz quad core processor, an 8 megapixel camera and a 3000 mAh battery.
Tobii Rex eye-tracking interface for Windows 8

The launch of Windows 8 has paved the way for many hybrid devices. The Tobii Rex eye-tracking interface, which was displayed at the CES last year, is back this year, albeit in a smaller form. It can now even snugly fit in the space between your laptop screen and keypad. With Tobii Rex, you can navigate your way around Windows 8—making it possible is the proprietary Gaze interface. It connects to the computer via USB port and allows you to scroll, open apps and even zoom in on things. According to reports, the company is also building a developers’ kit to encourage apps for the device.
Samsung ATIV Odyssey

After announcing the Windows 8-based ATIV devices last year, Samsung looks all set to showcase its Samsung ATIV Odyssey smartphone at the show. Initially thought to be in the same bracket as the Galaxy S3, reports now suggest that it’s more in league with the Nokia Lumia 822. The phone will sport a 4-inch WVGA Super AMOLED screen, 1.5GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 2100mAh battery, 1GB of RAM, 8GB storage, a 5MP camera capable of shooting 1080p videos and 4G LTE. It also supports NFC.
LG Google TVs
LG extends, strenghthens Google TV line-up
The CES 2013 will see LG showcasing not one but two Google TVs. The two models, GA7900 and GA6400, will deliver an intuitive experience at various sizes and new designs. Google’s latest platform and LG’s redesigned Magic Remote Qwerty will work together to improve the effectiveness of Voice Search and the PrimeTime quick guide. The updated Smart Home also adds to the user experience by offering access to VoD, YouTube and more apps. To know more, we will have to wait for the devices to be showcased at the CES this year.
Lenovo IdeaCentre Horizon Table PC

Lenovo is harnessing the powers of Windows 8 to showcase its new table top PC dubbed IdeaCentre Horizon. The IdeaCentre Horizon Table PC is the first ever interpersonal, multi-touch and multi-mode PC. Horizon can lie flat on any surface, allowing two or more people use the screen at the same time. It supports interactive physical gaming accessories and is designed for touchscreen game-play among several players. Fuelled by i7 processors, it can transform into a high-end 27-inch desktop too.
Nvidia Tegra 4
Tegra 4 with 72 graphics core
Nvidia is showing its next powerful processor – Tegra 4. This new chip sticks to Tegra’s 4-plus-1 design but has 72 graphics core, which is a full six times higher than the Tegra 3. The CPU is based on ARM’s latest Cortex A-15 architecture, which gives it a considerable boost compared to the current ARM Cortex A-9 based Tegra 3 quad-core chipset. Nvidia will also be sampling its LTE enabled i500 modem to partners. These new modems are said to help them deliver 1.2 trillion operations per second. This could eventually allow Nvidia to push out the Tegra 4 chipset to more tablet and smartphone partners.
