Following Intel’s formal launch of their second generation Core processors, codenamed Sandy Bridge and Gigabyte’s subsequent launch of motherboards for them comes the unveiling of Toshiba laptops that are powered by the processors.
Toshiba hops on the Sandy Bridge bandwagon
The Qosimo and Satellite both boast of the Core i7 variants of the Sandy Bridge family and will support features such as USB 3.0 and have the Toshiba Sleep and Charge energy management systems. Both of these laptops will be available starting this month.
Other members of the Satellite family will include the ones powered by Sandy Bridge Core i5 and i3 processors. These are the A660, E305 and M640 series, which will also boast of USB 3.0 ports. The Qosmio X505 and Satellite E305 will also feature Toshiba’s Hybrid Drive Technology.
The Sandy Bridge processors feature many improvements in the multimedia front, what with Intel Quick Sync video that reduces encoding time considerably and WiDi 2.0 that’ll allow users to stream HD content from their notebooks to their TVs. These improvements will lure many manufacturers in and not just Toshiba, we reckon. This is just the beginning.
