CES 2011: Avatar Kinect Announced

Microsoft can’t stop grinning from ear to ear since Kinect is apparently a raging success in the West. While we did think the tech was cool, it was also kind of not very practical .

So anyway Microsoft are obviously elated with the success of the Kinect and so at CES 2011, Microsoft’s CEO, Steve Balmer unveiled a new brand feature called Avatar Kinect. As the name suggests, Avatar Kinect will allow you to control your Xbox Live Avatar using Kinect. You’ll be able to interact with friends, make various facial gestures and even host your own chat show, if that’s your kind of thing. Think of it as MS’ version of Home.

Avatar Kinect will be free for Xbox Live Gold subscribers and will hit XBL sometime in the coming months.

He has a zero tolerance policy towards RTS games but is currently showing an interest by picking up and moving people - who he refers to as units - in the office. Thank God he's not that enthusiastic about Angry Birds or we'd be seeing women flying all over the place. Bali... Bali, put the receptionist down now.
