Responding to reports that a data was lost from a hard drive with information on corrupt officials, the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) has issued a clarification that such reports are unfounded, and that no data has been lost. The clarification was in response to certain sections of the media that reported that “the hard disc of the CVC portal has crashed and all data stored online till that date has been lost.”

The CVC has stated that all reports of loss of data and hard drive crashes are incorrect and misleading. The CVC went on to explain that no information regarding corrupt officials, or Core Anti-Corruption activities and its vital functions has been lost.

The CVC has been migrating its data to a new public portal based on cloud based storage since 2016. The new portal is available to the citizens, but not all the data has been transferred from the older portal. The CVC says this migration is the reason that the current status of some older complaints are not available online. The CVC further went to clarify that the complete data and information regarding all actionable complaints are available in the files and records with the CVC.
