The CBI on Wednesday arrested co-founders of Micromax mobiles Rajesh Aggarwal and Manish Tuli for allegedly bribing civic officials in New Delhi to build a banquet hall.

The CBI on Wednesday arrested co-founders of Micromax mobiles Rajesh Aggarwal and Manish Tuli for allegedly bribing civic officials in New Delhi to build a banquet hall.

According to NDTV _,_ the investigating agency allegedly caught MCD officials red handed while they were accepting a bribe of Rs 30 lakh. Post the arrest, the CBI raided the homes of various other MCD officials and have reportedly recovered Rs 40 lakh from one of the official’s homes.

The Times of India quotes CBI sources as saying that Aggarwal and Tuli were asked to pay Rs 50 lakh by the engineers - Rajesh Wadhwa (superintending engineer), A K Singh (executive engineer), Mahinder (assistant engineer) and a DDA engineer-to facilitate the clearance.

The Micromax founders, though, negotiated and reduced the amount to Rs 30 lakh, the report further says.

Aggarwal and Tuli had reportedly entered a deal with the civic body to get clearance and construct a banquet hall in Wazirpur.
