Meet the the Nokia N900, if you haven’t been introduced yet…

It recently made its way into the country in an official capacity and landed on my review table. It’s hard to classify this device as mobile phone as in reality is more of an MID (Mobile Internet Device) than a handset. For those who are unaware, the N900 runs on a new Linux based operating system called Maemo 5(v10) with an ARM Cortex A8 superscalar microprocessor core running at 600 MHz. 1GB of application memory (256 MB RAM, 768 MB virtual memory) is also added to back it up with 32GB of storage space for your media and a 3D graphics accelerator with OpenGL ES 2.0 support.

Here’s a quick look at its other features –

  • 3.5-inch resistive touchscreen with an 800 x 480 pixel resolution
  • 3.5G support with HSDPA and HSUPA, EDGE/GPRS, Wi-Fi with DLNA
  • GPS with A-GPS support for pre-loaded Ovi Maps and geo-tagging
  • Bluetooth v2.1 with A2DP and USB 2.0 (micro)
  • 5 megapixel autofocus camera with Carl Zeiss Optics, Dual Led flash, 800
