Call of Duty: Black Ops II Nuketown Zombies map coming to PS3, PC next week

Activision has announced that the Nuketown zombies map Call of Duty: Black Ops II is making its way to the PlayStation 3 and PC next week. While the map has already been released, so far it has only been available to Xbox 360 gamers. The announcement was made through a tweet from the game’s official account.

“Nuketown #Zombies hits PS3/PC players on 1/17 next week! Ready up & grab your #BlackOps2 DLC Season Pass now: http://bit.ly/VzxtvC,” said the tweet. The map will be available to gamers as part of the Black Ops II Season Pass.

The future is black

The future of Nuketown is black and infested with zombies

Treyarch had revealed that Black Ops II would be getting a Nuketown Zombies map through a trailer back in December. It shows a derelict and burned down Nuketown that is suffering through a zombie apocalypse. If the trailer is anything to go by, the map still follows the ’town of the future’ style from the ’50s, more commonly referred to as Zeerust. The Nuketown Zombies bonus map is available as part of the Black Ops 2 Season Pass.

Back in November, Treyarch had pulled the Nuketown 2025/24-7 playlist from the game’s matchmaking options. The playlist was part of the pre-order bonus for the game, which also included a double XP weekend. The news was confirmed on Twitter by the game’s design director David Vonderhaar. “Double XP weekend is official over. That means Nuketown 2025 / 24-7 is as well. I know. RIGHT? Don’t kill the messenger,” he tweeted. After seeing the outcry from fans, he tweeted, “Nuketown 2025 / 24-7 will be back for special events. You can always play it with your friends in Custom Games.”

To replace this, Treyarch has added a new playlist to the game’s matchmaking options called the Chaos Moshpit. Much like the Nuketown 2025 playlist, the Chaos Moshpit playlist is only available to those who pre-ordered the game. The playlist has the maps Carrier, Cargo, Express, Hijacked, Slums, Standoff and Nuketown 2025 in the rotation.

Earlier in December, it was revealed that Black Ops 2 had crossed the $1 billion mark worldwide in just fifteen days. Comparatively, Modern Warfare 3 had taken sixteen days to hit the mark. Just a day after its release, Black Ops II had crossed the $500 million mark. For the sake of comparison, one of the biggest games for the Xbox 360, the recently released Halo 4, saw about $220 million in sales on its first day. However, this could be attributed to the fact that Halo 4 is an Xbox 360 exclusive release, whereas Black Ops II was released for all gaming platforms.

This is par for the course when it comes to sales of games in the Call of Duty franchise. In 2011, Activision had reported $400 million worth of sales for the last year’s Call of Duty game – Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. The Call of Duty series has always seen record breaking sales since the release of Modern Warfare 2 back in 2009.

Ever heard of one of those people who just never seem to shut up about something? Shunal is like the nerd equivalent of that guy. Believe us when we say that he can go on talking about games and smartphones for hours on end. We do manage to find some insight in his insane ramblings though, and through his moronic facade, he does seem to know more than he lets on. Sadly enough, it always ends up being about gaming with him. Or stupid, stupid puns. see more
