Activision has announced that the last bit of DLC for popular FPS Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 will be hitting online stores on September 26. The DLC, titled Apocalypse, will be hitting the PlayStation 3 and PC. Xbox 360 players can grab it right now from Xbox Live.
Apocalypse includes a bunch of maps as well as a new Zombies experience, dubbed Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 Origins. The new Zombies stuff reunites players with the original heroes and goes back all the way to the Zombies bit in World at War, and ends up closing the Zombies story arc of Black Ops 2.
The four multiplayer maps of Apocalypse are Pod, Frost, Takeoff and Dig.
Pod is a failed utopian community from the 70s. The only remnants of the community are stacks of dilapidated residential pods nestled into an abandoned cliff side in Taiwan. The residents are long gone, and the compound now plays host to combat as players run atop the pods and navigate through the multi-tiered interiors.
Black Ops 2’s final chapter is black…
Frost is a snow-themed level based in a European city. A bridge over a frozen canal separates it into two sides, requiring players to employ multi-level traversal abilities.
Takeoff is a love letter to the Stadium map from the first Black Ops’ First Strike DLC. It is a remote launch site marooned in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. The gameplay here is all about close-quarters combat with its tight corners and open spaces.
Dig is an adaptation of Courtyard from World at War, where two archeological dig sites in Afghanistan become a playground for players. The map has two major chokepoints, a wide open layout and raised platforms. It also has a number of different ways for getting from one point to another.
While the DLC can be bought on its own, it is also part of the Black Ops 2 Season Pass.
