 "Bump! Google acquires file sharing app for around $30 million")
The Bump file sharing app which has thrilled so many smartphone users who can ‘bump’ their devices together to share files, is now officially a part of Google.
The news was confirmed in the Bump blog by David Lieb, CEO and cofounder of the company.
His blog post is reproduced below:

So we couldn’t be more thrilled to join Google, a company that shares our belief that the application of computing to difficult problems can fundamentally change the way that we interact with one another and the world.

According to TechCrunch, the move would probably work for Bump, seeing that although the company raised nearly $20 million and became one of the most downloaded mobile apps it failed to find any real revenue. It added in a later update to the same report that the move was a sale and not a acquisition and that Google probably paid a ballpark sum of $35 million for the company which was ‘probably not a home run for Bump’
Bump has been downloaded more than 100 million times.
AllThingsD said it had spoken to a Google spokesperson about the deal. According to its report: “The Bump team has demonstrated a strong ability to quickly build and develop products that users love, and we think they’ll be a great fit at Google,” said a Google spokesperson. Google declined to comment on what team Bump will be joining.
