British Police Not Too Keen on Reservoir Dogs

Eidos’s third person action title based on Quentin Tarantino’s cult flick Reservoir Dogs has been attracting a lot of bad publicity ever since it was announced. Last month the game got banned in Australia, courtesy of all the excessive and sadistic violence, and now it seems British cops have a problem with this game for that very same reason. Here’s what one representative from the UK’s Association of Chief Police Officers had to say, “Anything that encourages violent emotions, including such emotions towards members of the police service, is particularly disturbing and can only be described as offensive. It is disappointing to find violent video games on the market that may cause psychological harm to those who play them.” This representative isn’t alone with in his thoughts; Tom McGhie, chairman of the West Yorkshire Police Federation, who has described Reservoir Dogs as a ‘sickening glorification of violence against police officers’ had this to say, “Anything that encourages that type of behavior, when police officers are suffering more attacks than ever before, should be banned.” The game however, will still be released in Europe much to the dismay of the local authorities. reservoir dogs.jpg

Nash, as he prefers being called, woke up to the wonders of gaming rather late but don't bring that up around him. It's a touchy subject. A self confessed Battlefield veteran, Nash spent a good part of 2010 on the Steam Battlefield - with Bad Company (see what we did there?). He has a zero tolerance policy towards RTS games but is currently showing an interest by picking up and moving people - who he refers to as units - in the office. Thank God he's not that enthusiastic about Angry Birds or we'd be seeing women flying all over the place. Bali... Bali, put the receptionist down now.
