The Boeing 747 was first launched in 1969 and it was the largest passenger jet around for decades till the Airbus 380 or the Superjumbo as it’s been called, was launched in 2007. The new 747-8I (747-800 Intercontinental) is the the latest passenger jet from Boeing since the 747-400 which has been around since 1989. It has a capacity of 467 passengers if setup in a typical 3-class configuration.
A quieter jumbo jet is coming to an airport near you
The 747-8I was developed around the 747-400 but whle using advancements in engine technology and also cockpit design from the 787 Dreamliner, for which ANA (All Nippon Airways) is expecting deliveries. Boeing has received 847 orders for that jetliner. There are 33 orders so far for the 747-800I. A freight version version of the 747-800I called the 747-800F is also undergoing testing. The 747-8I
