BlackBerry Z3 will be coming to India when the global release is finalised: CEO John Chen

BlackBerry has said that its latest handset, the low-cost Z3 smartphone, will be coming to India when the global release is finalised.   India is among the seven countries where the Z3 could be rolled out eventually, BlackBerry told Tech2 **at the official launch in Jakarta**. But CEO John Chen said that the exact dates are not known because the company wants to see the response in Indonesia, where the Z3 is debuting, to formulate marketing strategies for other regions. So if the phone is a success in Indonesia, one can expect it to arrive in India as well.   The BlackBerry Z3 is the first phone to be produced by BlackBerry in association with major mobile production company Foxconn. It’s specifically geared for the Indonesian market, with a tag line which says “Jadi Bagain Dari Kita”. That’s Bahasa Indonesian for ‘Be Part of Us’ which is a whole new campaign for BlackBerry, aimed at emerging markets.   Chen also said he is excited about the Indian market because BlackBerry is again seeing growth in India after the Z10 price cut and because the brand remains well known in India. With BlackBerry’s problems with the Indian government over BES encryption now sorted out, Chen said he is excited about the Indian market.   The BlackBerry Z3 is a mid-range handset, featuring a 5-inch full touch display and running the latest version of BlackBerry 10 OS. It will be priced at around $200 and could very well compete with the likes of the Moto G and Lumia 630.
