BlackBerry KEYone 'Limited Edition Black' launched in India at Rs 39,990 as an Amazon exclusive

BlackBerry today launched the KEYone in India in a ‘Limited Edition Black’ variant that is priced at Rs 39,990. The Android-powered device made by the company was first unveiled at Mobile World Congress earlier this year and will go on sale in India on 8 August as an Amazon exclusive. At launch, Vodafone users will get 75 GB of free data and this will be valid for three months. BlackBerry KEYone 380px BlackBerry confirmed that the KEYone is a result of a “signed brand collaboration” between Optiemus and BlackBerry. While the initial units were produced by TCL, Optiemus Infracom will solely manufacture the BlackBerry KEYone for India in India. The devices manufactured in India by Optiemus will be available for sale in India starting from September this year. The KEYone retains BlackBerry’s iconic four-row physical keyboard along with a host of security features that the company offers. The phone packs a 4.5-inch IPS-grade LCD display at a resolution of 1620x1080, which gives it a 3:2 aspect ratio. The touch-enabled physical keyboard here is also backlit and comes with a fingerprint scanner built into the space bar. Inside, the BlackBerry KEYone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 octa-core processor clocked at 2.0 GHz and an Adreno 506 GPU. The variant launched in India comes with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage (3 GB RAM and 32 GB storage), expandable up to 2 TB via a microSD card. The phone also comes with a healthy, 3,505 mAh battery with support for Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0. The KEYone runs Android Nougat 7.1.1 out of the box and also comes with BlackBerry’s DTEK security app and BlackBerry Hub apart from the usual software customisations. On the camera front, the phone comes with a 12 MP Large Pixel (1.55 um) f/2.0 primary camera powered by the Sony IMX 378 sensor, while the front houses a f/2.2 8 MP lens. The camera is capable of shooting up to 4K 30 fps footage. The BlackBerry KEYone Limited Edition Black also comes with Bluetooth 4.2, a USB type-C port and a 3.5 mm headphone jack. Sensors include an accelerometer, magnetometer, gyroscope, proximity and an ambient light sensor.
