BlackBerry introduces new data plan for low and mid revenue circles

BlackBerry has announced a new data plan for some areas that consist of mid or low revenue. The new plan offers all of its services for Rs 129 per GB in the 15 circles, which includes Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Rajasthan. BlackBerry aims to get more popularity in these areas. The plan will be available on Aircel, Idea Cellular and Vodafone.

In metros and top four telecom circles of Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra and Karnataka, the plan is much more limited, as it only allows use of the BlackBerry Messenger.

“We are trying to get deeper into market with affordable plans. For 15 telecom circles which excludes metros and category A circles, BlackBerry will offer consumer access to all BlackBerry Services for Rs 129 limited up to 1 GB,” BlackBerry India’s Director for Commercial Relationship, Hitesh Shah, told PTI.

The plan is available for devices running on BlackBerry OS 7, which includes the Curve 9220, Curve 9320 and Bold 9990. In the low-reventue circles, the plan will give access to all of BlackBerry’s services, including email, Messenger, instant messaging, social networking, nternet browsing and access to the BlackBerry World app store.

“For Corporate users, in addition to the above services, they can also deploy BES Express at zero cost of Software license to enable corporate email access even on employee owned BlackBerry devices,” BlackBerry India’s Director for Enterprise Sales, Sunil Lalvani said.

The circles where the plan is available are West Bengal (excluding Kolkata), Assam, Bihar, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, North East Orissa, Punjab, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu (excluding Chennai), Uttar Pradesh West and Uttar Pradesh East.
