BlackBerry has slashed the price of its flagship Z30 smartphone in India, extending the 10th anniversary special offer from the **BlackBerry Z10** to the 5-incher. The Z30 will now be available for Rs 34,990 and the company has tied up with retailer Flipkart for exclusive rights to sell a white version of the phone. The offer, which starts today, will be valid for the next sixty days. The company had announced that the anniversary special discount on the BlackBerry Z10 had resulted in a sales surge, which meant the phone had to be restocked to meet the expected high demand.

The restocking process has also been completed this week, so any BlackBerry fans have two options to pick from, when it comes to full touch phones. The Z10 will be sold for the same price as it was being sold before it went out of stock i.e Rs 17,990.   In a press statement, Hitesh Shah, the company’s Director, Channel Sales in India said, “India is amongst the key emerging smartphone markets. The Indian consumers want access to cutting edge experience of a smart device combined with a revolutionary operating system – all at an attractive price point. We have seen a phenomenal response to our initial promotional offer on BlackBerry Z10 and are confident we will see similar off take for the 5 inch screen BlackBerry Z30.”   As we found in **our review of the Z30** , it’s just a larger Z10, with slight differentiation in hardware, and a larger display. It didn’t necessarily make us want to move away from the Z10, which is selling at nearly half its current price. While a Rs 5,000 discount over the launch price does make the Z30 slightly more affordable, there’s nothing that forces us to recommended it, despite BlackBerry’s regular updates, which are adding a lot of functionality and features to the OS. If you want a BlackBerry, the Z10 is still a better pick.
