BlackBerry Classic, the physical QWERTY keypad sporting phone from BlackBerry which was launched internationally last month , is all set to launch in India on January 15th. The official invite states, “Join us to witness the unveiling of the new BlackBerry 10”. As is expected there are no pricing details or availability details.

The Canadian mobile technology company said the new device, which bears striking similarities to its once wildly popular Bold and Curve handsets, boasts a larger screen, longer battery life, an expanded app library with access to offerings from Amazon.com’s Android App store, and a browser three times faster than the one on its legacy devices.

On the specs front, the BlackBerry Classic sports a 3.5-inch display with a 720x720 pixel resolution giving a pixel density of 294ppi. Under the hood, the Classic is powered by a 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus (MSM8960) processor along with 2GB of RAM. It runs on BlackBerry OS 10.3.  IT comes with 16GB of internal storage which can be expanded via a microSD card to 128GB.

On the camera front, you get an 8MP rear camera with LED flash unit which is capable of shooting full HD videos as 30 fps. This is complemented by a 2MP front-facing camera. It supports GPRS/EDGE, 4G LTE, Wi-fi, GPS/A-GPS, GLONASS, Bluetooth 4.0 and NFC. It comes with a 2515mAh battery.

The international pricing is around $499 which is approx Rs 31,500. So it is not difficult to speculate the Classic’s India pricing to be around the Rs 35,000 mark. We will find out for sure on 15th January.
